Nidd Valley Riding Club 2023

As many of our members may already know, a new committee was voted in at our AGM on 26th January 2023.  Vicki Forbes has taken over as Chair, Sara Bryant has returned as Secretary, Mary Lloyd has become our Membership Secretary, Izzy Forbes will commence as Treasurer and Shaun Malpass will be responsible for our social media and promotion.  Much thanks and appreciation must go to our retired committee members, many who have served on the committee for a good number of years.  On the subject of Committee, we would still like another couple of members to the join the committee so if this is something you are interested in, please get in touch!

At our presentation evening in January, several members received recognition for their success with their horses and also supporting or representing the club during 2022.   Our regular instructors each nominated a member whom they felt had made great progress in their lessons.  For Will Joyce, this was Peta Bardsley, Tracy Garside awarded Sara Bryant and Jan Brown awarded Kirsty Collinson.  Other presentations were made to Louise Downie (Spirit of the Club), Cheryl Towers (Bravery Award), Jane Hawley (Most points at Area Competition) and to Sarah Bacsich for her great efforts as a new member helping out the club at Area 4 competitions and the Halloween Showjumping.  Well done!

We have been working hard behind the scenes to get a program of lessons together and so far they have been very well received.  Hopefully, there is plenty there for everyone.  The committee took the decision to use www.horsevents.co.uk to book and pay for lessons.  Please let me know if you have any problems using this method, so far it has worked well.  www.horsevents.co.uk/nvrc will give you a list of all the lessons and clinics we have coming up.  I will also keep the website up to date with all our events which will include a link to the booking page at horsevents.  Shaun will continue to use his skills to promote our events via facebook.  As you can see from the program of events, we are utilising the fabulous indoor arena at Askham Bryan more and also have a new venue, Well Hill at Bramham which we hope to use more when the weather improves and we can train outside.  We are continuing to use Ledston EC and Camden EC too when their timetable permits.

Nidd Valley Riding Club has always had a reputation as a welcoming and friendly club and your new committee will endeavour to keep this reputation at the heart of all we do.

Best wishes to you and your horses for a successful 2023

Vicki Forbes
